David McShane
Co-Founder
David was Stefan’s original co-founder. Together they built National Wealth Partners, the RIA that preceded Whitwell & Co. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional with more than four decades in the industry, including senior roles at the Royal Bank of Canada, he was the ultimate team player, and Stefan often says the firm could not have been started without him.
Known to many as “Coach,” David was a lifelong athlete who coached competitive ice hockey through his last days, including with the youth programs of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights. His life was cut short during the height of Covid, but his spirit continues on the journey. Remembered for his gentle heart, his integrity, and his friendship, he is missed dearly by all who knew him.
Elsie M. Fletcher, CFA®
Advisory Board Member
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®), Elsie and Stefan served together on a CFA Institute leadership committee for several years, coming to know each other at meetings around the world. She was the first peer of real stature to formally and publicly encourage Stefan to start the firm, a vote of confidence that meant a great deal coming from someone he so admired.
As a Whitwell & Co. Advisory Board member, she gave candid, generous counsel and always pushed the firm to raise the bar. She and Stefan shared a love of dogs, and she served for years on the board of a local charity supporting rescue dogs. Warm, steady, and endlessly reliable, she was a cherished friend, and is remembered with deep gratitude.
