A Quiet Invitation

The risks that most threaten what you have built are rarely the ones in your portfolio. They are the gaps: a policy that no longer fits, coverage that quietly lapsed, protection that was never coordinated with the rest of the plan. Let us pressure-test how well your wealth, and the people who depend on you, are actually protected. We do not believe in pressure or hard pitches. We believe in the right relationship with the right people at the right time.

How we work with insurance and annuities

Any thorough financial plan has to evaluate whether insurance and annuity solutions belong in it. We provide that analysis with the same fiduciary standard we apply to every other part of your wealth: independent, conflict-aware, and grounded in your full picture.

When the right course of action involves placing a policy or contract, we work with Living Prepared, LLC, our affiliate under common leadership, which is licensed to advise on and execute these solutions on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

What does asset protection and risk management mean in a wealth plan?
It is the work of making sure a shock, such as an early death, a long life, poor health, a lawsuit, or a market downturn, does not derail your family's plan. Whitwell's role is to identify those risks, quantify them, and coordinate the right response across your investments, taxes, and estate plan. Where the right response is an insurance product, we work with our affiliated insurance firm rather than selling it ourselves.
Does Whitwell sell insurance or annuities?
No. Whitwell & Co. is an SEC-registered investment adviser and does not sell insurance or annuity products. When a plan calls for insurance, we coordinate with Living Prepared, LLC, our affiliated insurance firm, which handles that product work under the appropriate licenses. This keeps our advice fee-only and separates the planning from any product commission.
How does insurance fit into the overall plan?
Insurance is one tool for transferring a risk you do not want to carry yourself. Whether it belongs in your plan depends on your obligations, your balance sheet, and the specific risk, not on a sales quota. Whitwell frames whether and where protection fits; the product details and suitability are handled with Living Prepared, LLC. For insurance and annuity specifics, we point you to that affiliated firm rather than covering products here.
What risks does protection planning address?
Broadly four: dying earlier than planned and leaving obligations unfunded, living longer than your money is planned to last, needing extended or high-cost care later in life, and heirs whose needs exceed their means. Each calls for a different mix of savings, investment, estate, and, where appropriate, insurance strategies, coordinated so they reinforce one another rather than working in isolation.
How is protection coordinated with the rest of my plan?
It is planned alongside your investments, taxes, and estate documents, not bolted on afterward. Whitwell identifies the gaps and coordinates the response across your advisers, and where an insurance solution is appropriate, works with Living Prepared, LLC. The goal is a plan whose parts fit together, so protection supports your goals instead of sitting in a drawer.
