Consistency Beats Intensity

Why steady habits compound further than occasional bursts.

Read the transcript

When I was 21, I used to think that if I put in an intense burst of energy, I could solve just about anything. One of the humbling things that I've learned in the many years since then is that consistency beats short bursts of intensity.

Compounding wins every time

I don't care how brilliant you are, how amazing and talented you are, the truth is that compounding wins every time. Whether that compounding is in the financial markets, or whether that compounding is the accumulation of insights that we get from regular training, the reality is that consistency beats short-term bursts of brilliance or short-term bursts of intensity. So show up, even when it sucks. That principle will help you build wealth, will help you get better on the mat, will help you build teams. No flash, just reps.
