Why We Call It 'Job Optional,' Not Retirement
Why optionality, not an age, is the real goal, and how to build toward it.

We might slip up every once in a while in our firm and use the word retirement planning, but what we try to call it is the job-optional phase of life. An exciting phase of life, because it's one where you'll have the freedoms to actively decide where you want to spend your time, much more so than earlier in your career, where you're working long hours to build up your wealth.
Why we don't use the word retirement
One reason we don't use the word retirement is it's trite. It's a 1950s notion of, you're just not very busy. It could not be further from the truth. Our clients, when they move into the job-optional phase of life, are busier than ever. They're working on their terms, though. They're only doing things the way they want to do it, the number of hours they want to work, when they want to work, with whom they want to work. They're calling the shots. And of course, you can't forget grandkids; they'll take a lot of your time, in the best possible way.
Design a life you love
So whatever it is for you, the key is to figure out how do we get you there as soon as possible, and in the way that you want to do it, so that you have the choice to design a life that you want to live, a life that you love, and powerfully live that life in as much choice as possible.
